What is Remote Work?

To be all smarty pants, remote work is a cultural paradigm shift where more employees are providing service from a home office. With the ability of high-speed internet, a quiet place and a quality computer you can do anything.

But it’s so much more than that.

Remote work is a positive shift in mental wellness. It allows employees the balance of living their lives and working for their livelihood. The opportunity to be flexible has become the new stress relief.

Don’t get us wrong, there are jobs that require in-office work – but affiliate marketing is not one of them! You lucky dogs, you.

So brew some coffee, snug in with your dog and purchase some comfy sweatpants – because you can make money wherever you are as an affiliate marketer and we are going to show you how.

Rules for Working Remotely

Let’s get the facts straight right away. Remote work is not for everyone.

If you can’t follow a schedule, you get distracted easily and can’t seem to power up a computer, it may not be right for you.

We have a few important rules to share about how to work remotely for success.

First, stick to a schedule. We do know that the 9-5 may be over, however you still need to find time to get the work done. Find a schedule that works for you and stick to it. If you’re a night owl, get your work done then! If you vibe on mornings, get it done early! Whatever your work flow is, make it actually works for you. Use tools like AsanaHarvest or Clockify to stay on task, on time and to make sure you get paid.

Second, drop laziness and sloppiness at the door. Working remotely is not some excuse to make money while you watch Netflix and don’t put the work in. You must work to work remotely. Wake up and work out, shower, eat, drink coffee and take care of your damn self. It’s important to be your best self wherever you are, even if that means you’re in sweats. Get up and move when you can, standing desks (I love my Wayfair desk!) can be a lifesaver for those that work long hours.

Third, create a home office work space just for you. Your home office should be a true reflection of who you are so that you can work in a comfortable environment. Set up the extra monitors if you can, get some cool lighting and hang all the Baby Yoda posters because the happier you are in your space, the better you will work. Don’t work in a dark closet with no light. Face the window and soak in the light!  Your workload will thank you.

Fourth and finally, stay in communication with whom you work with regularly. They built Slack for a reason, right? Connect with your work peeps consistently! There is such a thing as feeling isolated when you work from home so it’s important for you to stay in touch with people throughout your day. Tune in to some music, chat with your co-workers and maybe talk to your pets a little bit. Or a lot, whatever your thing is.

Ready to make that money?

Working Affiliate Marketing Remotely

Let’s get down to the nitty gritty of working affiliate marketing remotely and successfully.

If you are in the WordPress space, and we hope that you are, affiliate marketing is made easy with how cool the community is. There are a few ways you can excel your affiliate marketing game while working from your home office with ease.

Join Slack groups! We have an exclusive WordPress Influencer Slack group that is super beneficial to anyone in affiliate marketing. Slack groups are key to making those priceless connections! Chat with them online about referrals, partnerships and becoming a part of their affiliate programs and maybe even become friends with some of them.

Get social with it! Get your affiliate links ready for sharing. The beautiful thing about social media is that you can do it from literally anywhere. Once you have your affiliate links poised and ready – aim fire at those social networks like it’s your superpower! Share, share and share away. Don’t forget to tag your friends, it’s meant to be social after all.

Create, create and create some more. When you’re working remotely, you have more time to create because you aren’t commuting, being distracted by work drama or having to go into endless meetings. You may still have some meetings, but with the power of Zoom, you can still have pants be optional. Create more content than you have ever created before, affiliate friends. With the extra time you have now that you are working remotely, use it wisely.
